Hi there, I’m Amy. I’m a multidisciplinary designer and writer based in the port city of Fremantle, Western Australia. In my professional life, I’ve worked in architecture as well as marketing, social media, events and retail.
I began Duke Street House as a space of curiosity and delight. I believe strongly in the value of good design. I am talking about the ‘stuff’ in our lives: the cup we drink from, the soap we wash with, the scarf we wrap around us, the shoes on our feet: Design that is easy and accessible.
In essence, I share what I enjoy doing – making things, cooking for friends and sharing the beauty I find in the everyday. I like to surround myself with beautifully designed and ethically produced products that have been made with love.
I am passionate about design inspiration rather than aspiration. There are so many design sites and magazines with beautiful, but completely inaccessible furniture and home-wares.
Like many young people, I rent my home and, even if I eventually buy a place, it is likely to be a tiny apartment. I firmly believe that any space can be made beautiful with an investment of time and creativity. Check in with me regularly for effortless design and interior ideas and inspiration.
